Properties of Poly(L-lactide) Plasticized with Glycerol Diacetate-Terminated Low Molecular Weight Poly(L-lactide)

    • Glycerol diacetate (GD) terminated poly(L-lactide)(OGLA) were successfully synthesized by Glycerol diacetate initiated ring-opening polymerization of L-lactide, which was used as a biocompatible plasticizer for high molecular polylactide (PLLA). The differences of Tg and crystallinity were analyzed with DSC and the mechanical property and effusion was illustrated as well. The experiment results showed that stiffness, Tg and the degree of crystallinity decreased with the increasing of OGLA content, while the toughness enhanced. Tensile strength and Young′s modulus decline with the increasing of OGLA content, but the elongation at break improved. Plasticizer effusion was also avoided.
