Abstract
Using polycarbonate diol (PCD) and polydimethylsioxane (PDMS) as the mixed soft segments, IPDI as hard segments, the PCD-PDMS based polyurethane/nano-SiO2 nanocomposite dispersions were prepared using aqueous nano-SiO2 sol. The structure and properties were characterized by particle size analyzer, SEM, optical contact angle measuring instruments, UV-Vis, mechanical and water resis-tance tests. Results showed that nano-SiO2 formed the continuous network and occupied the most parts of the matrix. Young modulus, tensile strength, elongation at break, surface hydrophobicity and water resistance of the nanocomposite films were significantly increased with the incorporation of PDMS and nano-SiO2.
