Abstract
Dispersion copolymerization of acrylamide(AM)and acrylic acid (AA) was carried out in aqueous solution of ammonium sulfate(AS),using polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP) as stabilizer. Anionic polyacrylamide(APAM) was prepared. The effects of the concentration of ammonium sulfate, ratio of acrylamide to acrylic acid, pH value of the system, concentration of PVP on the intrinsic viscosity, apparent viscosity and the stability of the product were studied. The optimum conditions are w(AS)=0.26, w(PVP) =0.04, m(AM)/m(AA)=4, pH=6.5. The structure and morphology of the product were investigated by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and optical microscope. Results show that the polymeric microsphere is the APAM with smooth and spherical surface.
