Abstract
The core material of n-octadecane and dementholized peppermint oil was encapsulated by polyurea as shell material made through the interfacial polymerization of isophorone diisocyanate and hexamethylenediamine to prepare the microcapsulated phase change materials (MicroPCMs) with peppermit fragrance scent. Morphology, chemical structure and thermal properties of the microcapsules were characterized by optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, fourier transform infrared, differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravity analysis. Results show that MicroPCMs are spherical. The average size of the microcapsules is about 7.0 μm. MicroPCMs have a high heat storage capacity and good thermal stability. The addition of approximately 8.3% nucleating agents 1 tetradecanol or paraffin in core materials can suppress supercooling of MicroPCMs.
