Fabrication of Silver Loaded Polymer One-Dimensional Nanostructures and Their Catalytic Property

    • Using metallogel fibers as templates, poly(N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide) (PMBA) one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures were fabricated via radical polymerization, and subsequently, polymerized products were treated using the reducing agent instead of removal of the template. Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) loaded polymer 1D nanostructures could be produced through the reduction of silver ions (Ag+) to elemental Ag. The microscopic morphology of the reduction products obtained by different reduction methods were characterized by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The Electron-Dispersive X-ray(EDX) spectrometry and electron diffraction image confirmed the existence of silver in the product. The as-prepared Ag NPs loaded polymer 1D nanostructures could be used to catalyze the degradation of methylene blue.
