Preparation and Morphology of Polymer Microspheres by Ultrasonic Suspension Copolymerization Method

    • Functional color polymer microspheres were synthesized by suspension polymerization using ultrasonic wave smash to improve the process with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and styrene (St) as mono-mers, BPO as initiator and C.I. Pigment Yellow 74 as colorant. The optical microscope photographs and scanning electron microscope (SEM) photographs of polymer microspheres showed that the particle size of microspheres became smaller from several hundred microns to ten microns under ultrasonic wave smash. SEM images of hot-melted polymer microspheres showed that there were many tiny pigment particles in the polymer microspheres.
