Abstract
Monodisperse carboxylfunctionalized superparamagnetic polymer microspheres were prepared by modified seedemulsion copolymerization. The properties of obtained microspheres were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). The features of TGA curves of functionalized magnetic polymer microspheres and the changes of component during the measurements were revealed by a systematic analysis via thermogravimetry and mass spectrometry(TG-MS), Raman spectroscopy(RS), Xray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). Results showed that an unusual mass loss occurred at 800 °C or higher temperature in nitrogen atmosphere and a more accurate method to calculate the magnetite content was proposed.
