Rheological Behavior of Cellulose-[Amim]Cl Concentrated Solvent

    • The rheological behavior of cellulose 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Amim]Cl) concentrated solution was studied by measuring the apparent viscosities at different temperatures. The [Amim]Cl cellulose solution was pesudoplastic fluid. Master curves were generated for apparent viscosity by using Carreau and Cross viscosity models to fit experimental data. From the Arrhenius equation, the activation energies of the shift factors are between 91.86 and 164.97 kJ/mol. Furthermore, activation energies and rheological behavior with those of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide(NMMO) cellulose solutions and polyethylene, polystyrene and polycarbonate were compared with cellulose-[Amim]Cl solution. The activation energies of cellulose-[Amim]Cl solution are higher than others and temperature has a great effect on solution viscosity.
