Preparation and Characterization of PVA-CMC Blend Films

    • The blend films of poly(vinyl alcohol)-carboxymethyl cellulose (PVA-CMC), prepared by cosolution method, were characterized by SEM, FT-IR and DSC. And then the mechanical properties, crosslink speed and gel fraction of the films were tested. The results show that the compatibility of the blend films is good, and the comprehensive mechanical properties are improved compared with those of single component. The films are able to be blended effectively using H3PO4 and CaCl2 solution, so that the film could exist stably in mixed solution of alcohol and water. No poisonous substances are imported during the crosslink process. It shows a promising prospect as matrix materials of cartilage reparation.
