Synthesis and Characterization of Copolymers of 3-Methyne (4-butoxylaniline) thiophene with Pyridine and 3-Butylthiophene Catalyzed by Metal Complexes

Abstract
A new Schiffbase monomer, 2,5-dibromo-3-methyne (4-butoxylaniline)thiophene, was synthesized by Schiff-base reaction, and two new copolymers, poly[3-methyne (4-butoxylaniline)thiophene-co-3-butylthiophene] (copolymerⅠ) and poly[3methyne (4-butoxylaniline)thiophenecopyridine] (copolymerⅡ), were prepared by using nickel (Ⅱ) complex as catalyzer. The chemical structures of polymers were verified by 1H-NMR and FT-IR. Electrical and optical properties were characterized by UV-Vis, PL and cyclic voltammogram. Results show that solutions of copolymerⅠand copolymerⅡemit yellowgreen light in chloroform, with maximum PL emission at 540 nm and 516 nm, respectively. Moreover, the copolymers have certain electrochemical activity.
