Abstract
Crosslinked polyvinylimidazole microspheres (PNVISt) were prepared through suspension polymerization using Nvinylimidazole (NVI) as monomer, styrene (St) as comonomer, ethyl glycol dimethacylate (EGDMA) as crosslinker and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as dispersant. Effects of various factors such as the amount of the dispersant, crosslinker and NaCl concentration, the stirring rate, the volume ratio of oil phase to water phase on the morphology and size of the crosslinked microspheres were investigated. The adsorption properties of microspheres PNVISt towards 2, 4dichlorophenol were studied preliminarily. Results show that the amount of the dispersant, the stirring rate and the ratio of oil phase to water phase are key factors. The crosslinked copolymer microspheres PNVISt with excellent sphericity and controllable particle diameter in a range of 100—200 μm could be obtained. In addition, the adsorption property of microspheres PNVISt to 2, 4dichlorophenol is excellent, and the static adsorption capacity is 143 mg/g.
