Preparation and 2, 4Chlorophenol Adsorption Behavior of CrossLinked Polyvinylimidazole Microspheres

    • Crosslinked polyvinylimidazole microspheres (PNVISt) were prepared through suspension polymerization using Nvinylimidazole (NVI) as monomer, styrene (St) as comonomer, ethyl glycol dimethacylate (EGDMA) as crosslinker and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as dispersant. Effects of various factors such as the amount of the dispersant, crosslinker and NaCl concentration, the stirring rate, the volume ratio of oil phase to water phase on the morphology and size of the crosslinked microspheres were investigated. The adsorption properties of microspheres PNVISt towards 2, 4dichlorophenol were studied preliminarily. Results show that the amount of the dispersant, the stirring rate and the ratio of oil phase to water phase are key factors. The crosslinked copolymer microspheres PNVISt with excellent sphericity and controllable particle diameter in a range of 100—200 μm could be obtained. In addition, the adsorption property of microspheres PNVISt to 2, 4dichlorophenol is excellent, and the static adsorption capacity is 143 mg/g.
