Abstract
In order to improve the property of water-resistantce and aging stability of urea-formaldehyde microcapsule, melamine, polyvinyl alcohol and phenol were added for the modification, respectively. Microcapsules with good heat-resistance and water-resistance can be obtained by optimizing the reaction conditions. The surface feature of the microcapsule was recorded with optical microscopy (OM). Microstructure of the microcapsule was confirmed with Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Thermal properties of the microcapsules were analyzed with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results show that thermal stability of the three modified microcapsules are all improved, while phenol-microcapsules have the best thermal stability; hydrophobicity of both melaminemicrocapsule and phenol-microcapsule are enhanced, while weakened for PVAmicrocapsule.
