Abstract
The aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIB) have attracted attention due to their low cost, high safety, and environmental friendliness. Currently, the cathodes of AZIB are mainly inorganic materials, but their sluggish ionic diffusion kinetics, low Coulombic efficiency, poor cycling stability, and environmental harmfulness severely limit their practical applications. Covalent organic framework materials (COF) have gained attention as a new type of cathode materials due to their high specific surface area, high porosity, good electrochemical performance, and environmental friendliness. This review summarizes the progress of COF serving as cathode materials of AZIB, including the design strategies and performance of carbonyl-containing, nitrogen-containing and other cathodes, and also discusses the current challenges and future development opportunities.
