Preparation and Permeation Performances of Phenolphthalein Polyethersulphone Cardo(PES-C) Ultrafiltration Membranes

    • The phenolphthalein polyethersulphone cardo(PES-C) ultrafiltration membranes were prepared by wet phaseinversion method using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and ethanol as additives. Results show that when ethanol is used as additive, the upper surface changes to be dense, the lower surface changes to be porous, the pure permeation flux (PWP) first increases to a peak point and then decreases with the increasing of ethanol mass fraction. When PVP is used as additive, the fingerlike structure of the prepared PES-C develops as PVP mass fraction in the dope solutions increases. Furthermore, PWP and rejection for BSA protein increase with the increasing of PVP mass fraction. When PVP mass fraction is 10%, the prepared PES-C membrane has a PWP value of 134.3 L/(m2·h) and a rejection of 85.1% to BSA solution.
