Effects of Benzoxazine-Containing Silane Coupling Agent on Properties of QF/PSA Composites

    • Based on the structural characteristic of quartz fiber (QF) and silicon-containing arylacetylene (PSA), a new type of coupling agent (BCA) containing benzoxazine and alkynyl groups was designed and prepared. BCA was introduced to improve the interface mechanical properties of QF/PSA composite. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FT-IR), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analyses were used to study the interactions between BCA and QF with PSA resin. Results revealed that BCA bonded well with the fiber and improved the interface adhesive properties of QF/PSA composite. When the composite was modified with 2.0% (mass fraction) BCA, the interlayer shear strength and flexible strength increased by 69.1% and 68.8%, respectively.
