Abstract
With the esterification reaction of ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymer and methoxy polyethylene glycol (MPEG),a series of EAA-g-MPEG copolymers were prepared.Then,EAA-g-MPEG copolymers were blended with high density polyethylene(HDPE) to prepare modified films.The effects of different reaction conditions on the grafting reaction were studied.The structure and thermal properties of the grafted copolymers were characterized by FT-IR,TG and DSC.Results showed that the grafting yield decreased gradually with the increase of molecular weight of MPEG.The thermal stability of the grafted products got worse with the increase of grafting ratio and side chain length.The grafting of MPEG was beneficial to the crystallization properties of the grafted products,and the crystal melting peak of the grafted products drifted to the direction of higher temperature.EAA-g-MPEG could effectively improve the surface hydrophilicity of the HDPE films.The water contact angle of the modified HDPE films could be decreased from 105° to 59° with only 10% mass fraction of modifiers.
