Abstract:
Poly (styrene-co-divinylbenzene) (P(St-co-DVB)) microspheres with atom transfer radical poly-merization (ATRP) initiator groups were prepared via two-stage precipitation polymerization. Then, poly (styrene-co-divinylbenzene) (P(St-co-DVB)) grafted poly(2-(dimethylamino) ethyl methacrylate) (PDMAEMA) (P(St-co-DVB)-g-PDMAEMA) microspheres were prepared via surface-initiated ATRP. Finally, the P(St-co-DVB)-g-PDMAEMA microspheres were conducted quaternization reaction. The morphologies and structures of microspheres were characterized by SEM, FT-IR and XPS. Results showed that the functional microspheres were featured by uniform size distribution and smooth surface, and the average particle size of microspheres was 2.11 μm. The bactericidal effect of microspheres on Escherichia coli was demonstrated.
