Abstract:
Two types of methacrylate macromonomers containing quinolone pharmacophores were synthesized. And two types of acrylamide copolymers were synthesized by the free-radical copolymerization of the macromonomers and acrylamide. The molecular structures of the macromonomers and copolymers were characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC), and UV spectrophoto-metry. The in vitro antibacterial activities of the monomers as well as the polymers against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were investigated. Results showed that both the copolymers exhibited excellent antibacterial activity, and the antibacterial performance of the polyacrylamide bonded with ciprofloxacin was much better than that of polyacrylamide bonded with pipemidic acid.
