Abstract:
The hollow plastic capsules, which composed of polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and glow discharge polymer (GDP), are prepared by emulsion and low pressure plasma coating. The neon permeability through the capsules is investigated by detecting gas quantity inside the capsule under diffe-rent equilibrium temperature and time. Results show that the equilibrium time is 70-100 h at 60 ℃, while 50-90 h at 70 ℃, 30-60 h at 80 ℃ and 20-40 h at 90 ℃. The neon permeability of hollow plastic capsules is 0.5×10-19-2.0×10-19mol/(m·s·Pa) at room temperature(25 ℃), which corresponds the half life for neon retention to be about 3-12 d with the diameter of 300 μm and the PVA wall thickness of 2 μm. The capsules can be gain with inner neon pressure 2.6-3.2 MPa under the condition of outer pre-ssure 4 MPa at the fill temperature 80 ℃.
