Abstract:
The chloromethylation of polystyrene (PS) was performed chloromethylation using chloromethyl ether. The photocrosslinkable polystyrene was obtained through the nucleophilic substitution reaction between cinnamic acid and benzyl chloride groups on the chloromethylated polystyrene (CMPS) under basic condition. Structures and thermal properties of photoresponsive PS were characterized by 1H-NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis and TGA. The effects of reaction time on chloromethylation and grafting reactions were studied. The photoresponsive PS exhibited good solubility, high thermal stability and photosensitivity.
