Abstract:
The acrylamide-acrylic acid copolymer (P(AM-co-AA)) hydrogel was prepared in aqueous solution using glow-discharge electrolysis plasma (GDEP) induced graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AM) and acrylic acid (AA), in which N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) was used as crosslinker. The structure of P(AM-co-AA) hydrogel was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). To optimize the synthesis conditions, discharge voltage, discharge time, mass fraction of AM and crosslinker, and degree of neutralization were examined in detail for adsorption of malachite green (MG). The induced mechanism of GDEP was also discussed. Results showed that the maximum adsorption capacity of P(AM-co-AA) hydrogel for MG was 864 mg/g.
